Turn-over Ceremony of newly-built Isolation Area, a joint project of the Junior Chamber International (JCI), Sultan Kudarat Water District, Local Government of Tacurong City and Tacurong City District Jail- Female Dormitory (TCDJ-FD) constructed at TCDJ Compound Tacurong City, Sultan Kudarat, March 8.
The activity was highlighted with a ceremonial Ribbon Cutting at the TCDJ-FD gate since absolute jail lockdown is observed in the facility as per BJMP COVID-19 Advisory #5. The event was joined by the Jail Warden JINSP MARIVIC RIVERA VERONA, Sec. Jude A. Acidre, JCI President, Mr. Rodrigo Jamorabon, representative of LGU Tacurong City; and witnessed by other visitors and duty personnel of the unit, with the strict observance of minimum public health standards.
The Isolation Area within the jail premises is intended for the safekeeping and quarantine of newly committed PDL. PDL is brought out of jail for a court hearing and medical/psychiatric evaluation with close contact with people to ensure prevention of COVID-19 transmission during their integration with fellow PDL. It can also be utilized by Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) who manifest COVID-19 symptoms, which may require isolation in accordance with the health protocol and BJMP guidelines.
Thru the concerted effort initiated by INSP VERONA in coordination with the LGU Tacurong City, the Isolation Area was established with the construction supplies and cash donations of JCI Philippines Tacurong Kampilan; as part of their “Kanlungan sa Kulungan Project.”
The said area is now operational, with a two-bed capacity with sound barriers, a water supply, and a separate comfort room as a preventive measure against COVID-19.
